The Ripple Effect
Una luz enciende otra luz.
One light kindles another.
Lee despacio.
Read slowly. Leave room between one thought and the next.
Cierra los ojos por un momento.
Respira.
“Ner Hashem nishmat adam.”
Close your eyes for a moment.
Breathe.
Notice the scent.
Some things enter us without our being able to see them.
One is scent.
Another is the light one person leaves in another.
Now open your eyes and look at the flame.
In Mishlei it is written:
“Ner Hashem nishmat adam.”
A person’s neshamah is a candle of Hashem.
Watch what happens with fire.
One flame can light another.
And then another.
And then another.
The first flame has no less light because it shared its own.
It has exactly the same amount.
But now there is more light in the world.
Think of someone who once kindled something within you.
Maybe they taught you something.
Helped you.
Believed in you.
Made you feel less alone.
Or did something small you never forgot.
Pause
Now ask yourself:
Who can receive something from me?
It doesn’t have to be something enormous.
A call.
A word.
An invitation.
Time.
Help.
Tzedakah.
Simply being there.
Look at the flame once more.
The light you received does not end with you.
Now take the coin in front of you.
This coin represents the moment when an intention becomes an action.
Decide where you want to give it.
And when you do, remember:
It may seem like a single action.
But you never know where it will end.
One person touches another.
One action inspires another.
One light kindles another light.
That is the Ripple Effect.
I’m Lior.
And this is the light I want to pass on.
Now pass yours.
